SINGAPORE, June 3 (BEBE) - Five years after the sitcom "Under One Roof" and "Master of the Sea" were premiered at the Multimedia Corporation of Singapore (MCS) [note: originally named BLUR, YUS, OIR, FIU, TCS and SBC.], the public advocate has declared the Singapore entertainment industry a "barren waste land." There has not been a single movie or sound album coming out of Singapore for the past five years. Anyone who has any talent whatsoever has left for HK or Taiwan to develop their potential. Even the office of the Singapore Actors Guild was relocated to Taipei. This "talent drain" problem was recently addressed by the Ministry of Communication: "We could have a film and music industry if we wanted to, but we decided not to. The last thing we want to create are people such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, OJ Simpson, Joan Chen and, especially, Ronald Reagan."

SINGAPORE, March 4 (fd) - The month of April is the Singapore's Water Conservation month. Starting April 1, Singapore Water Conservation Initiative will go into effect. Everyone will be allocated 4 litres of water a day with each purchase of COEW, or certificate of entitlement for water. The bidding of COEW will start at S$4. The government projects the price of COEW will double in a year thus bring in more revenue to start water conservation project, such as recycling industrial waste water directly into pure drinking water.

In a related news, any offense that conflicts with this new rule will have the fine reduced in half. For example, people who forget to flush the toilet, instead of the previous fine of S$500, they will be fined S$250 because they are within the guideline of the SWCI. Another example is the fine for spitting in to the Singapore River will cost much less than spitting on to Orchard Road.
