Inferring Relative Seismic Age

Stratigraphic interpretation of subsurface seismic imaging is a very important problem for oil companies and for studying the deposition of materials. Typically, a human interpreter must laboriously annotate features in the seismic image to identify regions of interest. The problem of identifying features can be equivalently formulated as finding a relative geologic age at every pixel within the image. In this work, we develop an autonomous, probabilistic approach to inferring this relative age for 2D seismic images.
