Vignettes in Distributed Data Fusion
John Tsitsiklis
LIDS, MIT
Recent interest in sensor networks, multiagent systems, and social networks has led to a resurgence of interest in simple models of data fusion for the purpose of detection, estimation, or decision making. Examples involve agreement through iterated averaging, agreement through iterative Bayesian updating, and distributed detection under severely limited communications. After an overview and some sample models and results, we discuss the decentralized detection problem, with a focus on asymptotics and architectural comparisons.
