From Different Angles
Multi-view stereo reconstruction is investigated with application to medical imaging. Using a collection of plain film X-rays acquired from different angles, the 3-D shape of bones and prosthetic devices in patients having had total knee replacement surgery is to be recovered. A surface evolution formulation is presented that uses 2-D edge-based and region-based criteria, and a level-set implementation.
Synthetic aperture radar imaging technology acquires measurements from different angles as well. Over wide-angle apertures, there is angle-dependent scattering magnitude and angle-dependent scattering center spatial location. A coordinate descent approach is presented to jointly characterize these two angle-dependences and give a notion of object shape.
The theme of acquiring measurements "from different angles" is certainly in common. Can we say anything more?
