The problem of distributed detection has received a great deal of attention over the last 20 years. This talk will start with a brief historical overview of the research in this area starting with Tenney and Sandell's pioneering paper. Some recent results on the convexity of the objective function and distributed classification will be presented. Finally, some future research directions will be outlined.
